With 35 years of combined land management and forestry experience, the AEL team realized there was a gap in the rural and recreational real estate market. While most brokerage firms focus solely on helping clients buy or sell land, AEL saw the opportunity to help clients enhance their property from a land management, wildlife and forestry perspective. A firm that could do both would ultimately provide the client with invaluable insight to the true, and often untapped, potential of their land. East Texas native Mark Brian earned his forestry degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1978 and began his career assisting private forest landowners across the southern U.S. with identifying and achieving their ecological and financial goals. Typically working for absentee landowners during this time, Mark became skilled in real estate issues such as titles, boundary lines, taxation, and access. In 1996, Mark merged his business with Bird Forestry, and for the past 20-plus years, has been involved in a myriad of projects such as due diligence evaluations of real estate acquisitions, land resource inventories and investment feasibility studies. In addition, his training and expertise has included evaluation and implementation of conservation easements on private lands. Bird Forestry’s integration into Advanced Ecology in 2005 provided Mark the opportunity to work with the AEL team where he acquired insight into environmental studies, wetland delineations, recreational value enhancements, and native grassland management. Mark brings to Terrastone four decades of assessing, managing and evaluating land on a wide variety of landscapes, plus the ability to rapidly assess ecological, economic and recreational aspects, offering an invaluable resource to both buyers and sellers.

Mark Bird is a degreed forester who began working in the family business, Bird Forestry, well before his formal education in forestry. Working summers as a part-time employee, he decided to pursue a career in the field of natural resources field. Mark began his career with Advanced Ecology, LTD (AEL) in 2008 soon after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Forestry with honors and a minor in business administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. After starting with AEL, Mark went on to earn his Master in Business Administration from SFASU. Having been involved in many large, non-private and private landowner projects, he honed his interest and specialty fields. Mark transitioned his career into real estate and is an integral part of TerraStone Land Company. He enjoys implementing large-scale timber inventory projects, connecting with landowners on a personal level and providing support in the oversight and management of daily operations in the area of forestry technologies.

Bradley Wilson is a seasoned real estate broker with extensive market knowledge. Bradley has more than nine years of experience as a multi-million-dollar producer. Bradley launched his real estate career in 2006 with nationally franchised Coldwell Banker Real Estate. Bradley developed a knowledge base built from the ground-up starting in residential sales that led to land sales, mineral marketing and commercial real estate sales. In 2014, Bradley found a perfect landing pad at TerraStone Land Company and continued growing his market expertise in the asset class of timberland and other creative land investment opportunities. Bradley has honed his varied and vast market knowledge to focus his expertise in the field of strategic land investments including timberland, recreational property, and other unique land and resource projects. Bradley enjoys building trusting relationships with his clients, gaining strength and expertise by staying informed of real estate and natural resource markets, creating strategic plans for landowners looking to invest in or divest their land holdings, and is laying the foundation for becoming an Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) through the Realtors Land Institute.

Adam Velek Friendswood native Adam Velek offers vast knowledge and experience in many facets of real estate including property and mineral rights, title research and successful negotiating. A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in general business, Adam began a career in the oil and gas industry as a petroleum landman where he acquired experience in research, right-of- way negotiations and a wealth of understanding in building relationships between landowners and oil and gas companies. With a successful track record in those areas, Adam transitioned into mineral and title research, leasing oil and gas minerals rights and curing title opinions where he spent most of his time in courthouses and title plants, or on-the- road meeting with surface and mineral owners across East Texas. In 2014, Adam entered a new career in real estate focusing on the land and timber market where he applied his skills to successfully record back-to- back years of multi-million dollars in land sales. Adam’s background in numerous areas of real estate, minerals and title research offers TerraStone clients a store of information and professional skills to ensure a successful experience.
